Mucho Mas!

Time for a road trip! Well not really, more so just a mini weekend trip with my boyfriend to Michigan to visit some friends. After wrapping up a jam-packed weekend on the lake in Paw Paw, it was time to head home (and of course stop for some grub). We settled on a “Cali-Latin Fusion restaurant” in Michigan City, Indiana called “Mucho Mas!”.

Remember how last week I ordered more food than expected? Well, to quote the iconic Britney Spears, “Oops, I did it again!” Yes folks, this week I took home more leftovers than I ate.
As the most indecisive person on the face of the earth, it takes me forever to decide what I want to eat, especially when I am eating out of town. What if the food is really good and I missed out on a great dish? What if I never come back to this place never get to experience their amazing cuisine?? These decisions are crucial!
The decision-making process went down a little something like this:
Me: “I don’t know what I want, everything sounds SO GOOD especially the nachos and the enchilada.”
My Bf: “Just pick something, I’m sure it’ll be good”
Me: “But what if it’s not??”
Bf: “I’m sure it will be. How about this, I’ll get the Enchilada and you get the nachos, we’ll share them.”
(I got ONE bite of the enchilada FYI, so much for sharing it.)
Bf: “Make sure you get the large order so we have enough to split.”
Oh and trust me we did.
Just minutes after we order, I watch our server come out from the kitchen with a pizza platter full of nachos. No joke it was over a foot wide, piled inches high with chorizo, pico de gallo, sour cream, several different cheeses, cilantro, beans, jalapenos, corn, and guac. I have never been more intimidated by a plate of food in my life.

And for good reason, not only were the portions insane but the nachos were insanely good! I have just recently come around to enjoying beans, and at first I was turned off by the overwhelming amount of black beans I saw on my plate but they really pulled the dish together. Full of flavor and incredibly tender, I could have eaten a whole bowl by themselves. The chips were super crunchy but not at all greasy. Oh gosh and the chorizo, I have no words. If I could marry a food item, it would be chorizo. My life was changed the day I met that delicious sausage.
By the time I was full I had hardly made a dent in my plate, a rare occurrence for me. So naturally I had to get a to go box, right? Just take a guess as to what my server brought me. A MEDIUM PIZZA BOX. I have never been so baffled, this must be a common thing for them. As a Mexican restaurant that does not serve pizza, why do you need pizza sized to go boxes?? To add to it, these nachos were only $10, and could easily feed a family of four. Now that’s a steal if I’ve ever heard one. Enjoy this picture of me excitedly holding my pizza box full of nachos.

Overall, this place was amazing! So much food, so much flavor, so fast, and so little cash. If you ever find yourself near the lakefront in Michigan City, you have to check this place out. It may look a little deserted and sketchy, but I promise there are a few hidden gems here. Mucho Mas! is located at 727 Franklin St, Michigan City, IN 46360.
