Juliet's Tavern

For those of you who don't know, I am a pasta fanatic. I swear I could eat pasta every day at every meal and be more than content with it. Over this weekend I was craving a good plate of gnocchi, and thankfully Juliet's is less than a five-minute drive from me. Although I would normally put in a GrubHub order to have it delivered to me, I was feeling impatient and didn't want to wait an hour to get my food.

It was a bit odd, as I walked in I expected to see more people in the dining room at 6 p.m., yet there were only two tables filled. At least I wouldn't have to wait long to get me food, right? Maybe I'm overreacting, but it still took 20 minutes to get my food when the entire restaurant was empty. Maybe this is a sign that they prepared their food fresh and not frozen? All I know is I was getting hangry and needed my pasta ASAP.

Cut to the moment my food arrives, it was the most beautiful sight. Those little pillows of gnocchi goodness smothered in decadent vodka cream sauce. And truly, this dish did not disappoint. The taste overall was phenomenal, but the texture was a bit off. When I bit into the dumpling, the inside was still very soft, almost falling apart in your mouth, while the outside was nice an firm. The entree was still good, but the texture put a bit of a damper on it.

Now lastly the dessert, a "strawberry cheesecake filled cannoli", it seems like the best of both world right? Wrong. What I expected to be one of the greatest desserts of all time, was by far the most disgusting thing I have ever eaten. I'll let this picture speak for itself. from looks alone, I knew it was going to taste like trash, but against my better judgment, I took a bite. It tastes like warm strawberry yogurt that had been whipped to make it fluffy like a whipped cream. I have no clue what I was eating but it was definitely not a cheesecake stuffed cannoli. I couldn't even finish it. I took one bite and had to tap out.
Overall, for the price, I was disappointed. Although all together my meal was under $20, I would have rather gone to olive garden for fake Italian food, than have to sit through this meal again. Although the gnocchi was good, the texture was still bugging me.
